The BMI USA 4555 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in plumbing and piping systems where a short, rigid pipe connection is required. Measuring 3/4 inch in diameter and 5.5 inches in length, this nipple provides a durable, corrosion-resistant link between threaded fittings, valves, and other components. Constructed from solid brass with a red finish, the 4555 meets lead-free requirements, making it suitable for potable water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting as part of rough-in and finish plumbing work across residential and light commercial projects.
This brass nipple is used in water supply lines, distribution manifolds, and general pipe assemblies where a 3/4-inch threaded connection is specified. Its 5.5-inch length makes it well suited for close-quarter runs that require more reach than a close or short nipple provides. Typical applications include connecting shutoff valves, water heaters, pressure regulators, and similar fixtures in both new construction and retrofit installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-use fitting compatible with 3/4-inch NPT threaded plumbing systems in residential and light commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and hand-tighten before using a pipe wrench to seat the fitting. Do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
