The BMI USA 4470 is a lead-free brass threaded pipe nipple designed for use in potable water, plumbing, and fluid-handling systems. Machined from solid brass with a red finish, this nipple measures 0.5 inch nominal diameter by 10 inches in length and weighs 0.66 pounds. The threaded ends accept standard NPT fittings, making it a straightforward component for extending or connecting pipe runs. Licensed plumbers and experienced pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction, remodel, and repair work where lead-free compliance is required by code.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications including potable water supply lines, hydronic systems, and general fluid distribution. Its 10-inch length covers mid-range extension needs where close or short nipples are insufficient. The lead-free brass construction meets requirements under the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act for fixtures and fittings used in drinking water systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded plumbing systems requiring a 0.5-inch nominal brass nipple.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope rated for potable water to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as brass fittings can crack under excessive torque.
