The BMI USA 4469 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in potable water and general plumbing supply systems. At 9 inches in length and 1/2-inch nominal pipe size, this close-tolerance fitting provides a reliable, corrosion-resistant connection between threaded pipe sections. The red finish identifies it as a lead-free product, meeting modern plumbing code requirements for drinking water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of nipple in residential and light commercial water distribution lines where a durable, code-compliant brass fitting is required.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial potable water supply lines, hot and cold water distribution headers, and general plumbing rough-in work. The 1/2-inch size is among the most common in residential water supply branch lines feeding fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and appliances. Its lead-free brass construction makes it appropriate wherever local codes or the Safe Drinking Water Act mandate lead-free fittings in water contact applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock threaded nipple for 1/2-inch NPT plumbing systems in residential and light commercial applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before threading the nipple into place. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Use a pipe wrench to tighten to snug engagement — do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive force.
