The BMI USA 4464 is a lead free brass nipple designed for threaded pipe connections in plumbing and mechanical systems. This close-pattern nipple measures 1/2 inch in diameter and 9.5 inches in length, providing a reliable threaded fitting for joining pipe sections in water supply, distribution, and related fluid handling applications. Constructed from brass with a red finish, it meets lead free material requirements applicable to potable water installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of fitting in both new construction and repair work.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a 1/2 inch threaded connection is required. Its 9.5 inch body length makes it appropriate for applications needing a longer standoff or extension between fittings, valves, or fixtures. The lead free brass construction makes it compatible with potable water systems subject to lead free compliance requirements under NSF and applicable state and local codes.
Designed as a standard NPT-threaded brass nipple for use with 1/2 inch threaded fittings, valves, and pipe in residential and commercial plumbing systems requiring lead free brass components.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up the joint. Do not over-tighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive force.
