The BMI USA 4455 is a lead-free brass nipple designed for threaded pipe connections in plumbing, HVAC, and related mechanical systems. Measuring 0.5 inches by 5.5 inches in length, this nipple provides a reliable close nipple extension between fittings, valves, or equipment connections. Its red-finish brass construction resists corrosion and meets lead-free compliance standards required in potable water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting as a standard component in residential and light commercial piping assemblies.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing systems where a short threaded extension is needed between two female-threaded components. Common applications include water supply lines, hydronic heating distribution piping, and general mechanical system connections. The lead-free designation makes it appropriate for potable water service where local codes mandate lead-free wetted components. It is installed using standard pipe wrenches and thread sealant or PTFE tape on the male threads.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use threaded nipple for standard 0.5-inch NPT female-threaded fittings, valves, and equipment ports in residential and commercial plumbing and mechanical piping systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply PTFE tape or an approved pipe thread sealant to the male threads before assembly. Hand-tighten first, then use a pipe wrench to bring the connection to a proper seal without overtightening the brass threads.
