The BMI USA 4400 is a half close (CL) brass nipple with a nominal length of 1-1/8 inches, designed for threaded pipe connections in plumbing systems. Built from lead-free brass, this fitting meets modern potable water compliance standards. It features male NPT threads on both ends and is intended for use where a short, close-coupled threaded connection is required. Licensed plumbers and experienced trade installers typically specify close nipples when minimal pipe extension is needed between two fittings or valves. The red finish aids in quick visual identification during installation and inspection.
This half close nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications. Common install scenarios include water supply lines, boiler trim, hydronic heating systems, and general service plumbing where a tight, compact threaded union between fittings is required. Its brass construction holds up well in both hot and cold water service lines, making it a practical stock item for plumbing contractors and service techs alike.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use threaded fitting for standard NPT plumbing connections in residential and commercial piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before installing or replacing threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
