The BMI USA 4355 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in potable water, plumbing, and general-purpose piping systems. At 3/8 inch nominal diameter and 5-1/2 inches in length, this fitting connects two female-threaded ports or extends a run where a short close nipple or hex nipple is not long enough. The all-brass construction resists corrosion and handles the pressures typical in residential and light commercial plumbing. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction, repair, and retrofit work.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications including water supply lines, gas-compatible brass fitting assemblies, and general pipe extensions. The 3/8 inch size is common in branch lines and fixture supply connections. The 5-1/2 inch length provides enough working room in tight installations where a shorter nipple would not reach. Its lead-free brass composition meets requirements for potable water contact in applicable plumbing codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation threaded nipple compatible with standard 3/8 inch female NPT fittings in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and relieve line pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope rated for the service type to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten brass threaded fittings, as brass is softer than steel and susceptible to thread damage.
