The BMI USA 4345 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in potable water, plumbing distribution, and general fluid-conveyance systems. At 3/8 inch diameter and 4.5 inches in length, this close-tolerance nipple provides a reliable threaded connection between fittings, valves, and pipe runs where a short extension is required. Constructed from solid brass with a red finish, it is suited for applications demanding corrosion resistance and lead-free compliance. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of fitting.
This nipple is commonly used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems, including water supply lines, boiler connections, and hydronic distribution piping. The 3/8 inch thread size fits standard NPT fittings and valves at that diameter. Its lead-free construction makes it appropriate for potable water applications where local codes require lead-free materials, including installations governed by state and local amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation nipple for standard 3/8 inch NPT threaded fittings, valves, and couplings used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to hand-tight plus the number of turns recommended by your local code or fitting manufacturer. Do not overtighten brass threaded fittings, as this can crack the fitting body.
