The BMI USA 4340 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in potable water and general plumbing systems. Machined from solid brass with a red finish, this nipple measures 3/8 inch in diameter and 4 inches in length, making it a compact, reliable connector for joining threaded pipe sections. Its lead-free construction meets current plumbing code requirements for drinking water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction, renovation, or repair work where a short, fixed-length threaded connection is needed between two female-threaded components.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications. It is commonly used in water supply lines, distribution manifolds, and service connections where a 3/8-inch NPT threaded fitting is required. The 4-inch body length provides clearance for installations where longer close nipples or hex nipples would not reach. It is appropriate for both hot and cold water service in standard pressure systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-use brass threaded nipple for residential and commercial plumbing systems requiring 3/8-inch NPT male connections.
Installation of threaded brass nipples is performed by licensed plumbers in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and local jurisdiction requirements. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope to the male threads before assembly to ensure a leak-free connection. Do not over-tighten brass fittings, as excess torque can crack or distort the fitting body.
