The BMI USA 4293 is a lead-free red brass pipe measuring 1/4 inch in diameter and 144 inches in length. Red brass, an alloy with higher copper content than standard yellow brass, offers superior corrosion resistance and is well suited for potable water, gas, and general plumbing service lines. At 4.76 pounds, this full 12-foot length gives installers working stock for residential and light commercial rough-in, repair, or fabrication work. Threaded ends allow direct connection to standard fittings without additional prep. The lead-free designation meets current Safe Drinking Water Act requirements for use in potable water systems.
This pipe is intended for plumbing and mechanical applications where a durable, corrosion-resistant brass pipe is required. Typical uses include potable water supply lines, low-pressure gas distribution, compressed air, and hydronic heating branch lines. The 144-inch length is useful for runs requiring fewer joints, reducing potential leak points. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers in both residential and light commercial settings.
Designed as a standard 1/4-inch nominal lead-free red brass pipe for use with compatible brass, bronze, or approved threaded fittings in potable water, gas, and general plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting or threading. Use appropriate pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as red brass can be damaged by excessive torque.
