The BMI USA 4270 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in plumbing supply and distribution systems. Machined from solid brass with a red finish, this nipple measures 1/4 inch in diameter and 10 inches in length, making it suitable for close-quarters runs where a longer nipple is needed in a small pipe size. At 0.4 pounds, it is lightweight and easy to handle during installation. Lead-free construction meets drinking water compliance requirements for potable water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This nipple is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where 1/4-inch threaded connections are required. Typical applications include supply lines, distribution manifolds, and equipment connections where a 10-inch threaded extension is needed. The brass construction resists corrosion and holds up well in both hot and cold water service. Its lead-free designation makes it appropriate for use in potable water systems subject to applicable safe drinking water regulations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use threaded brass nipple for standard 1/4-inch NPT plumbing connections in residential and light commercial systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before threading this nipple into place. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as brass fittings can crack under excessive torque from pipe wrenches.
