The BMI USA 4160 is a lead-free brass pipe nipple designed for threaded plumbing connections in water supply, distribution, and related fluid-handling systems. At 0.125 inches (1/8 inch) nominal pipe size and 6 inches in length, this nipple threads into standard fittings, valves, and fixtures to extend or connect runs in tight spaces. The brass construction provides corrosion resistance and reliable performance in potable water and light commercial applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting as a standard component in threaded pipe assemblies wherever a short extension or close nipple connection is needed.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems, including water supply lines, manifolds, and valve connections. The 1/8-inch pipe size makes it common in low-flow supply lines, air line connections, and instrumentation tie-ins. Its 6-inch length accommodates applications where a close nipple or hex nipple would be too short. The lead-free designation makes it appropriate for potable water service in jurisdictions that require compliance with lead-free standards for plumbing fittings and materials.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-installation threaded brass nipple for 1/8-inch NPT fittings, valves, and fixtures in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope rated for the intended service to all male threads before assembly. Hand-tighten first, then use a pipe wrench to achieve a snug, leak-free connection without over-torquing the fitting.
