The BMI USA 4155 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in fluid and gas distribution piping systems. At 1/8-inch nominal pipe size and 5.5 inches in length, this nipple serves as a close-tolerance connector between threaded fittings, valves, and pipe assemblies. The red finish aids in quick field identification. Constructed from solid brass, it offers reliable corrosion resistance in potable water, hydronic, and low-pressure gas applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and heating applications where a small-diameter, extended-length threaded connector is required. Common uses include connecting valves to manifolds, gauge ports, and service connections on water heaters, boilers, and distribution systems. The lead-free construction meets requirements for potable water contact under applicable plumbing codes.
Designed as a standard NPT-threaded replacement nipple for residential and light commercial plumbing, hydronic heating, and low-pressure gas piping systems requiring 1/8-inch pipe connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable International Plumbing Code (IPC) or local equivalent. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as the material is susceptible to thread damage under excessive torque.
