The BMI USA 4100 is a lead-free brass close nipple designed for threaded pipe connections in plumbing and mechanical systems. A close nipple — sometimes called a running nipple — has no exposed center pipe body between its two threaded ends, making it the right choice when two fittings or valves must be joined with minimal spacing. The 4100 is sized at 1/8 inch NPT and constructed from brass for reliable corrosion resistance in potable water and light mechanical service. Its lead-free construction meets regulatory requirements for use in drinking water systems.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where 1/8 inch NPT threaded connections are required. Common applications include pressure gauge ports, instrument taps, small-bore water supply lines, and gas line branch connections where local codes permit brass fittings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers. The compact close-nipple form is especially useful in tight spaces where a standard-length nipple would not fit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation close nipple for standard 1/8 inch NPT threaded fittings in residential and light commercial plumbing and mechanical systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before making any threaded connections. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the NPT threads before assembly. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as excessive torque can crack the fitting body.
