The BMI USA 4081 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in potable water, hydronic, and general plumbing systems. At 4 inches in diameter and 12 inches in length, this nipple provides a reliable, corrosion-resistant threaded connection between pipes, valves, fittings, and other system components. Constructed from solid brass with a red finish, it meets lead-free requirements for installations where drinking water contact is a concern. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction, system retrofits, and repair work across residential and light commercial applications.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing systems requiring a straight threaded pipe extension or connection point. It is commonly used in water supply lines, heating and cooling distribution piping, and mechanical room assemblies. The 12-inch length makes it appropriate for situations where a standard close or short nipple would not bridge the required gap between fittings or equipment ports.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded brass nipple replacement suitable for standard threaded pipe systems in residential and commercial plumbing applications requiring a lead-free 4-inch fitting.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up the joint. Do not over-torque brass fittings, as the material is softer than iron or steel and threads can be damaged.
