The BMI USA 4010 is a lead-free brass close nipple designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing systems. A close nipple has threads running the full length of the fitting with no unthreaded center section, allowing two threaded connections to be made in tight-clearance situations. At 2.625 inches in length and constructed from red brass, it delivers corrosion resistance and reliable thread engagement in both hot and cold water supply lines. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where minimal distance is required between two female-threaded connections.
This close nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations, including water supply lines, boiler trim, and fixture connections. Its lead-free construction makes it appropriate for use in potable water systems where lead-free compliance is required under applicable plumbing codes. It is installed using standard NPT pipe wrenches and thread sealant or PTFE tape on male threads before assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-service close nipple for residential and commercial NPT-threaded plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or applicable local codes. Shut off water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to male NPT threads before assembly and tighten with pipe wrenches to a secure, leak-free connection. Do not over-tighten brass fittings, as the material can crack under excessive force.
