The BMI USA 4006 is a lead-free brass threaded nipple designed for use in potable water, plumbing, and fluid-handling systems where reliable, corrosion-resistant connections are required. Measuring 2-1/2 inches in diameter and 5 inches in length, this fitting is manufactured from brass with a red finish. The lead-free construction makes it compliant with regulations governing drinking water system components. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of nipple when connecting two female-threaded fittings or extending a threaded run in supply or distribution piping.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a close or longer-length threaded connection is needed. Typical applications include water supply lines, mechanical room piping, and general-purpose fluid distribution. The 2-1/2-inch size is common in larger domestic water mains, recirculation systems, and commercial fixture rough-in work. Its brass construction handles standard service pressures found in municipal and building water supply applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-service threaded nipple compatible with 2-1/2-inch female NPT fittings used in residential and commercial plumbing systems.
Installation of threaded brass nipples is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and local amendments. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before installation. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
