The BMI USA 4004 is a lead-free brass nipple designed for threaded pipe connections in residential and commercial plumbing systems. This close-pattern nipple measures 2.5 inches in diameter and 4 inches in length, machined from solid brass for reliable corrosion resistance in potable water and general-purpose piping applications. The threaded ends conform to standard NPT sizing, allowing direct connection to compatible fittings, valves, and equipment without modification. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction, remodel, and repair work where a short rigid extension or coupling offset is needed between threaded components.
This nipple is suited for residential water distribution, light commercial plumbing, and hydronic heating systems where a short threaded connector is required between valves, unions, or fixtures. Its lead-free construction meets the requirements of the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act, making it appropriate for use in potable water supply lines. The red finish indicates lead-free material status per industry convention, helping installers quickly identify compliant components on the job.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit nipple for 2.5-inch NPT threaded plumbing systems in residential and light commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up the connection. Do not over-tighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
