The BMI USA 35622 is a 1/4 inch malleable iron pipe cross finished in black. A pipe cross is a four-way fitting that allows a single pipe run to branch in two directions simultaneously, forming a plus-sign configuration. This fitting is used in low-pressure piping assemblies where a branching junction is needed. Malleable iron construction gives it the durability and thread integrity required for threaded piping systems in commercial and light industrial applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial piping systems where a four-way threaded connection is required. Common applications include gas distribution piping, compressed air lines, and water supply manifold assemblies where code-compliant threaded fittings are specified. The black finish is standard for gas piping applications.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting compatible with standard 1/4 inch NPT piping systems in gas, air, or water service applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing and gas codes, including IFGC requirements where gas service is involved. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten, as malleable iron threads can crack under excessive torque.
