The BMI USA 35590 is a malleable iron pipe tee designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, mechanical, and industrial piping systems. This fitting features a 4x4x2 inch configuration, with 4-inch run openings and a 2-inch branch outlet, finished in black for standard service applications. Malleable iron construction provides the toughness required for higher-pressure and higher-temperature service compared to cast iron or plastic fittings. At 7.74 pounds, it is a solid, full-bodied fitting suited for permanent installations where durability and leak-free connections matter. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers of this class of fitting.
This tee is used in threaded black iron pipe systems commonly found in commercial and residential gas distribution, fire suppression, compressed air, and general mechanical piping. The 4x4x2 inch reducing configuration makes it suitable for branch takeoffs in main runs where a smaller diameter branch line is required. It is appropriate for above-ground installations in both new construction and retrofit piping work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded black iron pipe systems using standard NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local mechanical and plumbing codes, including IPC and IFGC requirements where gas service is involved. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service type before making up connections. Do not over-tighten threaded joints, as malleable iron fittings can crack if torqued excessively.
