The BMI USA 35561 is a malleable iron black pipe tee used to create branch connections in threaded piping systems. This fitting accepts a reducing center outlet, making it suitable for joining a smaller branch line to a main run of pipe. Malleable iron construction provides the toughness and thread-holding strength required in gas, steam, and water distribution applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in both residential and light commercial systems where reliable, code-compliant threaded connections are required. The black finish is standard for gas-line applications.
This tee is commonly installed in natural gas and propane distribution piping, as well as in steam and hydronic heating systems. The reducing outlet configuration allows a smaller branch line to be tapped off a larger main, which is a frequent layout requirement in residential gas supply runs and boiler room piping. It is also used in industrial compressed-air and fluid-transfer piping where malleable iron threaded fittings are specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded malleable iron piping systems using standard NPT connections in residential and commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing and mechanical codes, including IFGC requirements for gas piping. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting into any existing line. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service to all threaded joints. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as malleable iron fittings can crack if excessive force is applied.
