The BMI USA 35481 is a malleable iron black pipe tee designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, gas, and mechanical piping systems. This reducing tee connects a 1-1/2 inch run with a 1 inch outlet and a 1-1/4 inch branch, making it well suited for distribution lines that step down in pipe size at a junction point. The black finish is standard for gas piping applications. Malleable iron construction provides the ductility and thread integrity needed for reliable, leak-free joints under pressure. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This reducing tee is used in residential and light commercial piping installations where a threaded iron fitting is required at a size-reducing branch connection. Common applications include natural gas distribution lines, propane supply systems, and black iron mechanical piping. The 1-1/2 inch by 1 inch by 1-1/4 inch configuration addresses layouts where flow must be split or reduced across multiple branch lines.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded black iron pipe systems in gas and mechanical piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), or the International Plumbing Code (IPC) as required. Shut off the gas or water supply and relieve system pressure before disassembling any existing piping. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded fittings, as malleable iron threads can crack under excessive force.
