The BMI USA 35474 is a malleable iron black pipe tee used to create branch connections in threaded piping systems. It provides a 1-1/2 inch by 1-1/2 inch by 1/2 inch reducing configuration, allowing a 1/2 inch branch takeoff from a 1-1/2 inch run. The black finish is standard for gas piping and other non-potable fluid systems. Malleable iron construction gives the fitting the ductility and thread-holding strength needed for reliable wrench-tight assembly. Plumbers, pipefitters, and gas service technicians install this type of fitting in both residential and light commercial applications.
This tee is suited for natural gas, propane, compressed air, and similar non-corrosive fluid distribution systems where threaded malleable iron fittings are required or specified. The reducing branch outlet allows a main run to continue at full 1-1/2 inch size while a 1/2 inch branch feeds a downstream appliance, valve, or takeoff point. It is commonly installed during rough-in, service, or retrofit work wherever a threaded branch connection is needed in an existing or new iron pipe system.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded malleable iron pipe systems using 1-1/2 inch run pipe with a 1/2 inch branch outlet.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), or the International Plumbing Code (IPC) as required. Shut off gas or fluid supply and verify the system is depressurized before disassembling or adding fittings. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium to all threaded joints. Do not over-tighten threaded connections; use a properly sized pipe wrench and follow standard trade practice for thread engagement.
