The BMI USA 35465 is a black malleable iron pipe tee designed for joining and branching threaded pipe runs in plumbing, gas distribution, and mechanical piping systems. The reducing tee configuration accepts a 1-1/4 inch run on both ends with a 1/2 inch branch outlet, making it a reliable fitting for reducing branch connections without the need for additional adapters. Weighing 0.95 pounds, this fitting is built from malleable iron for durability under pressure and temperature cycling. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers, using this type of fitting in both residential and light commercial applications.
This tee is suited for use in threaded black iron piping systems, including natural gas, propane, steam, and compressed air distribution lines where black iron fittings are code-required or preferred. The reducing branch configuration is commonly installed where a main supply line must serve a smaller-diameter branch line at a single point. It is appropriate for both new construction rough-in work and retrofit or repair applications on existing threaded pipe systems.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded pipe fitting for use with standard NPT black iron pipe systems in plumbing, gas, and mechanical piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), or the International Plumbing Code (IPC) as relevant to the service. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
