The BMI USA 35462 is a black malleable iron pipe tee designed for joining threaded pipe runs in plumbing, gas distribution, and mechanical piping systems. The reducing tee configuration connects a 1-1/4-inch run pipe to a 3/4-inch branch outlet, with the inlet measuring 1 inch, making it a practical solution for stepped-down branch connections in both residential and light commercial installations. Malleable iron construction provides the ductility and thread integrity required for code-compliant mechanical joints. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting in gas and fluid distribution systems.
This tee is suited for use in black iron gas piping, compressed air distribution, hydronic heating loops, and similar threaded mechanical systems where reducing branch takeoffs are required. The black finish is standard for gas service applications and distinguishes the fitting from galvanized components used in potable water lines. It is installed wherever a main run must continue while also supplying a reduced branch line in the same plane.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard NPT-threaded black iron pipe systems in residential and light commercial gas, air, and hydronic piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, IFGC requirements for gas piping, or IPC requirements for mechanical systems. Shut off and depressurize the supply line fully before disassembly or fitting installation. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium before making up threads. Do not over-tighten malleable iron fittings, as excessive torque can crack the casting.
