The BMI USA 35445 is a malleable iron black pipe tee used to create branch connections in threaded pipe systems. This fitting connects three sections of pipe at a tee junction, with a 1-inch run and a 3/4-inch by 1/2-inch branch reduction. The black finish is applied over malleable iron, making it suitable for gas distribution, compressed air, and general plumbing applications where galvanized fittings are not required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during rough-in or system modifications.
This tee is commonly used in residential and light commercial piping installations, including natural gas supply lines, propane distribution, and low-pressure compressed air systems. The reducing configuration allows a main run to step down to smaller branch diameters without additional bushings in many installations. It is suited for above-grade indoor piping where a black iron fitting is specified by code or system design.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT-threaded malleable iron pipe systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before disassembling or adding any fittings. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium before making up joints. All gas piping installations must comply with local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) requirements for pressure testing after assembly.
