The BMI USA 35436 is a black malleable iron pipe tee designed for joining three sections of pipe in a plumbing, gas, or mechanical piping system. The tee features a reducing configuration with two 1-inch run ports and a 1-1/2-inch branch port, making it suited for branch takeoffs where flow is split or redirected. Malleable iron construction provides the strength and ductility required for threaded pipe assemblies in demanding trade applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting type in both residential and light commercial systems.
This fitting is used in black iron piping systems commonly found in natural gas distribution, propane supply lines, steam heating, and industrial fluid handling. The reducing tee configuration is a standard fitting choice when a branch line of a different diameter must be taken off a main run. It is well suited for residential gas appliance rough-in work and commercial mechanical room piping where threaded black iron is the required material.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for black iron threaded piping systems in residential and commercial gas, steam, and mechanical piping applications.
Installation of black iron pipe fittings on gas lines must be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off the gas supply and verify pressure is bled from the line before disassembling or threading any fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or pipe thread compound rated for gas service to all male NPT threads before assembly. Do not use PTFE tape on gas fittings unless the tape is specifically rated for gas service.
