The BMI USA 35422 is a black malleable iron pipe tee designed for joining threaded pipe runs in plumbing, gas distribution, and mechanical piping systems. The reducing tee configuration accepts a 1/2-inch run on both ends with a 1/4-inch branch outlet, allowing a smaller branch line to be tapped off a main 1/2-inch run. Malleable iron construction provides the ductility and thread integrity required for reliable, leak-free connections in both low-pressure gas and water piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of threaded black iron piping assemblies.
This tee is suited for residential and light commercial applications where threaded black iron pipe is specified, including natural gas supply lines, propane distribution, compressed air systems, and general plumbing rough-in. The black finish is standard for gas-service iron fittings and is compatible with standard NPT-threaded pipe and nipples in the stated sizes.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for use with standard NPT black iron pipe systems in residential and light commercial gas, air, and plumbing piping assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, IFGC requirements for gas piping, or IPC requirements for water and mechanical systems. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before disassembly or installation. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive force.
