The BMI USA 35421 is a malleable iron black pipe tee designed for joining threaded pipe runs in plumbing, gas distribution, and mechanical piping systems. The reducing tee configuration accepts a 1/2-inch run on both ends with a 3/8-inch branch outlet, making it suited for branch takeoffs where flow volume steps down. The black finish indicates an uncoated iron surface standard for gas service and general industrial applications. At 0.28 pounds, this is a compact fitting handled and installed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and gas service technicians.
This tee is used in residential and light commercial piping systems where threaded malleable iron fittings are specified. Common applications include natural gas supply lines, propane distribution piping, compressed air systems, and water distribution where iron fittings are code-acceptable. The reducing branch outlet allows a main 1/2-inch line to feed a smaller 3/8-inch branch without an additional bushing, keeping the fitting count and potential leak points to a minimum.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded malleable iron fitting compatible with standard NPT-threaded pipe systems in residential and light commercial gas, air, and water piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or qualified gas technician in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the line completely before cutting into any existing pipe run. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before making up connections. Do not over-torque threaded joints; use a backup wrench on the mating fitting to avoid stressing downstream connections.
