The BMI USA 35336 is a malleable iron black 90-degree pipe elbow designed for joining threaded pipe runs at a right angle. The reducing configuration transitions from a 1-1/2-inch inlet to a 1-inch outlet, making it a practical fitting for branch line reductions in gas, air, and non-potable water systems. Malleable iron construction provides the durability and thread integrity required for pressurized piping applications. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors working on commercial and residential systems.
This elbow is suited for use in black iron gas piping systems, compressed air distribution, and general industrial piping where a 90-degree directional change with a simultaneous size reduction is required. The black finish is standard for gas service piping and distinguishes these fittings from galvanized fittings used in water service. It is appropriate for both new construction and retrofit or repair work where threaded connections are already in place.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard new-installation fitting for threaded black iron pipe systems using NPT connections in residential and commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local mechanical and fuel gas codes, including the IFGC where gas service is involved. Shut off and depressurize the system before removing or installing any fittings. Apply appropriate thread sealant or tape rated for the intended service medium before making up threaded joints. Do not over-tighten fittings, as malleable iron threads can crack under excessive torque.
