The BMI USA 35333 is a malleable iron black 90 degree pipe elbow designed to redirect pipe runs in threaded plumbing and gas piping systems. This reducing elbow transitions from a 1-1/4 inch line to a 1/2 inch outlet, making it well suited for branch connections and service drops where flow direction and pipe size must change simultaneously. The black finish indicates an un-galvanized coating standard for gas piping applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial systems where a durable, code-acceptable threaded elbow is required.
This elbow is used in threaded black iron piping systems, most commonly in natural gas, propane, and steam distribution lines in residential and commercial construction. The reducing configuration handles situations where a main run must drop to a smaller diameter outlet, such as a gas appliance branch or a steam radiator supply. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on new construction, retrofit, or service work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded black iron pipe systems in plumbing and gas piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or International Plumbing Code (IPC) as applicable. Shut off and bleed the gas or fluid supply completely before breaking any threaded connection. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the specific service medium before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded fittings, as malleable iron can crack under excessive torque applied with power tools.
