The BMI USA 35332 is a black malleable iron 90-degree reducing elbow used to redirect and step down pipe runs in gas, air, and compatible fluid piping systems. The fitting transitions from a 1-1/4 inch inlet to a 3/4 inch outlet, making it a practical choice when a line reduction and a directional change need to happen at the same point. The black finish indicates this is a non-galvanized iron fitting, typically selected for gas distribution and low-pressure industrial piping. At 0.65 pounds, the casting is compact and suited for close-quarters installations where space is limited. Licensed plumbers and gas fitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This elbow is commonly found in residential and light commercial piping applications including natural gas branch lines, propane distribution runs, compressed air systems, and water piping where malleable iron fittings are specified. The reducing configuration allows a single fitting to accomplish what would otherwise require both a coupling and a separate elbow, reducing the total number of joints in the system. It is well suited to retrofit and service work where existing pipe layouts involve mixed sizes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded malleable iron pipe systems using 1-1/4 inch and 3/4 inch NPT connections.
Installation of this fitting should be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with applicable local codes, including the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or International Plumbing Code (IPC) as required by the service type. Shut off the gas supply or isolate the pipe section and relieve any system pressure before breaking an existing joint or installing this fitting. Apply an appropriate pipe thread sealant rated for the intended service medium to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded fittings, as malleable iron threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
