The BMI USA 35320 is a black-finish malleable iron 90-degree street elbow designed for low-pressure pipe systems in plumbing and mechanical applications. This fitting connects a 1/2 inch male thread on one end to a 1/4 inch female thread on the other, allowing directional changes in threaded pipe runs where a compact, close-coupled turn is required. The black finish indicates an untreated, oil-coated iron surface suited for gas and air service lines. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during rough-in and service work on gas distribution, compressed air, and similar threaded-pipe systems.
This 90-degree street elbow is used in residential and light commercial mechanical systems where a directional change is needed between two different pipe sizes. Its street configuration — male on one end, female on the other — eliminates the need for an additional nipple in tight spaces. Typical applications include natural gas supply lines, propane distribution, and compressed air distribution headers where NPT-threaded fittings are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard addition to residential and light commercial threaded malleable iron pipe systems using NPT fittings.
Installation of threaded malleable iron fittings should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable local codes and IFGC or IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the supply line fully before removing or installing any fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten, as malleable iron threads can crack under excessive torque.
