The BMI USA 35271 is a 1/8 inch black malleable iron street 45-degree elbow fitting designed for threaded pipe systems in plumbing, gas, and mechanical applications. The male-by-female (MF) configuration allows it to thread directly into a female fitting or pipe on one end while accepting a male fitting or pipe on the other, reducing the need for additional couplings at direction changes. At 0.05 pounds, this compact fitting is lightweight but built from malleable iron for reliable performance under pressure. It is finished in black, which is standard for gas-service pipe assemblies.
This fitting is commonly used in residential and light commercial pipe systems where a 45-degree directional change is needed in a tight space. The street configuration makes it especially useful when working in close quarters, eliminating the need for a separate nipple. Typical applications include natural gas and propane distribution lines, steam and air systems, and general-purpose black iron pipe assemblies installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard fitting for 1/8 inch NPT threaded black iron pipe systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or International Plumbing Code (IPC) where relevant. Shut off gas or fluid supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or pipe thread compound rated for the service medium before making up connections. Do not over-tighten malleable iron fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
