The BMI USA 35208 is a 45-degree malleable iron pipe elbow in a 1-1/2 inch size with a black finish. This fitting redirects pipe runs at a 45-degree angle and is used in threaded piping systems for gas, water, steam, and general plumbing applications. Malleable iron construction provides the toughness and ductility needed to withstand mechanical stress and vibration in demanding installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in both above-ground and exposed piping systems where a reliable threaded connection is required.
This 45-degree elbow is suited for residential and light commercial piping systems. It is commonly installed where a gradual directional change is needed in a threaded iron pipe run, including gas distribution lines, heating system piping, and general plumbing rough-in work. The black finish is standard for gas service piping and distinguishes it from galvanized fittings used in water service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard fitting for threaded malleable iron piping systems using 1-1/2 inch nominal pipe size connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with local plumbing and mechanical codes, including the IPC and IFGC where applicable. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to a snug, hand-plus-wrench fit without over-torquing the malleable iron. On gas lines, test all joints for leaks after reassembly before restoring service.
