The BMI USA 35193 is a malleable iron hex pipe bushing finished in black, designed for reducing pipe thread sizes in plumbing, HVAC piping, and industrial pipe systems. The hex outer profile provides a secure grip for standard wrenches during installation and removal. At 1.98 pounds, this bushing is built for durability under pressure in both residential and light commercial applications. It is a standard threaded fitting installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working with iron pipe systems.
This bushing is suited for use in gas, water, and steam distribution piping where a threaded reduction from a 3.5-inch female thread to a 3-inch male thread is required. It fits common scenarios such as reducing a main line connection down to a branch line or adapting fittings at equipment inlets and outlets in commercial mechanical rooms or residential utility installations.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded pipe bushing for use in standard NPT iron pipe systems requiring a 3.5-inch to 3-inch threaded reduction in residential and commercial mechanical piping installations.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off the gas or water supply and depressurize the line before making any threaded connections. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before engagement. Hand-tighten first, then use a pipe wrench to achieve a proper seal without over-stressing the fitting. All installations should conform to applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) as applicable.
