The BMI USA 20455 is an extra heavy, Class 300 black malleable iron pipe tee designed for use in high-pressure piping systems. This threaded fitting connects three sections of pipe at a branch point and is built from extra heavy malleable iron with a black finish. The 1-1/4 x 1-1/4 x 1/2 inch reducing configuration allows a run of 1-1/4 inch pipe to branch off to a 1/2 inch outlet. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting in commercial and industrial piping systems where elevated pressure ratings are required.
This fitting is suited for commercial plumbing, industrial gas distribution, steam lines, and mechanical piping applications that demand a heavier-duty threaded connection than standard Class 150 fittings provide. The extra heavy Class 300 rating makes it appropriate for higher-pressure service conditions. It is typically installed in systems where schedule 40 or schedule 80 pipe is used and where code or engineering specifications call for elevated pressure-rated fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting replacement for extra heavy malleable iron tee applications in Class 300 commercial and industrial piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local mechanical and plumbing codes. Depressurize and isolate the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
