The BMI USA 20377 is a 1-1/4 inch extra heavy black malleable iron 90 degree street elbow (male-to-female configuration) used in threaded piping systems across plumbing, gas distribution, and industrial piping applications. The street pattern means one end is male-threaded and the other is female-threaded, allowing direct connection without a nipple fitting. The extra heavy (XH) wall rating gives it greater pressure capacity than standard weight fittings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where a 90 degree directional change is needed in a black iron piping run.
This elbow is suited for residential and light commercial gas piping, steam, and pressure piping systems where a robust threaded fitting is required. The 1-1/4 inch size is common in branch and main runs for natural gas and propane supply lines, as well as steam and hot water heating systems. The black finish is standard for gas service applications and is not intended for potable water service without verification of local code requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/4 inch NPT threaded black iron piping systems in gas, steam, and pressure piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, IFGC requirements for gas piping, and ASME B16.3 standards for malleable iron fittings. Shut off and verify zero pressure in the piping system before disassembling or threading any fitting. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as malleable iron can crack under excessive force.
