The BMI USA 20308 is an extra heavy (XH) malleable iron 90-degree pipe elbow rated for Class 300 service. This fitting redirects piping runs at a right angle and is designed for high-pressure or demanding industrial and commercial piping systems. With a 1.5-inch nominal pipe size, a black finish, and extra heavy wall construction, it is suited for applications where standard-weight fittings are not adequate. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in steam, gas, oil, and high-pressure fluid distribution systems where robust threaded connections are required.
This elbow is commonly used in commercial and industrial piping installations that require Class 300 rated threaded malleable iron fittings. The extra heavy designation indicates heavier wall thickness than standard or Class 150 fittings, making it appropriate for elevated pressure and temperature environments such as steam distribution, compressed air headers, and industrial process piping. It is installed using standard NPT threading practices and pipe wrenches or pipe vises.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting compatible with 1.5-inch NPT piping systems requiring Class 300 extra heavy malleable iron elbows.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes, including IFGC and IPC where relevant. Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to NPT threads per the system fluid and code requirements. Do not over-torque malleable iron fittings, as the material can crack under excessive force.
