The BMI USA 20306 is an extra heavy malleable iron 90-degree pipe elbow finished in black. It is designed for use in threaded pipe systems where a right-angle directional change is required. The extra heavy wall construction makes it suitable for high-demand piping applications where standard fittings may not provide adequate strength or pressure tolerance. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in commercial and industrial piping runs, as well as in demanding residential applications. The black finish is standard for gas piping and certain fire suppression and steam systems.
This elbow is used wherever a 90-degree turn is needed in a threaded iron pipe system. Typical applications include gas distribution lines, steam systems, and industrial fluid piping. The extra heavy classification indicates a heavier wall thickness than standard or Class 150 fittings, making it appropriate for higher-pressure service conditions in both commercial and industrial settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-install extra heavy malleable iron threaded pipe elbow for use in threaded iron pipe systems requiring 90-degree directional changes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing and mechanical codes, including the International Plumbing Code (IPC) where adopted. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before disassembling or installing any fitting. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as this can crack malleable iron fittings.
