The BMI USA 20207 is an extra heavy (XH) 45-degree malleable iron pipe elbow finished in black, sized for 1-1/4 inch pipe. It is designed for use in threaded piping systems where a change in direction is required and where elevated pressure or mechanical stress demands a heavier wall fitting than standard weight fittings provide. Weighing 1.52 pounds, this fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters in both commercial and industrial applications. The black finish indicates an uncoated iron surface suited for gas, steam, and other non-potable piping systems.
This elbow is appropriate for 1-1/4 inch threaded piping runs in residential gas distribution, commercial mechanical rooms, steam systems, and industrial process piping. The 45-degree angle allows gradual directional changes with lower flow resistance compared to a 90-degree fitting. Extra heavy wall construction makes it a preferred choice in higher-pressure or higher-load installations where standard weight fittings are not adequate.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/4 inch NPT threaded piping systems requiring an extra heavy 45-degree elbow.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC depending on the service application. Shut off and depressurize the affected piping system before beginning any fitting work. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly, and tighten to appropriate engagement using pipe wrenches. Do not over-tighten, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
