The BMI USA 20024 is an extra heavy malleable iron pipe coupling finished in black, designed for joining threaded pipe sections in demanding plumbing and piping applications. With a reducing configuration of 3/4 inch by 3/8 inch, this coupling connects two different pipe sizes within the same run. The extra heavy wall construction provides greater resistance to pressure and mechanical stress compared to standard-weight fittings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting in both residential and commercial systems.
This reducing coupling is suited for use in water supply, steam, gas, and industrial piping systems where a step-down from 3/4 inch to 3/8 inch pipe is required. The black finish is standard for gas piping and non-potable applications. Extra heavy fittings are commonly specified in industrial environments, high-pressure lines, and locations where added wall thickness is required by code or engineering specification.
Designed as an OEM-style extra heavy malleable iron reducing coupling for use with standard NPT-threaded pipe in plumbing, gas, and industrial piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
