The BMI USA 20010 is an extra heavy malleable iron pipe coupling finished in black, designed for joining threaded pipe sections in demanding plumbing, mechanical, and industrial piping systems. At 2.5 inches, this coupling provides a secure, pressure-rated connection where standard-weight fittings are not sufficient. The extra heavy wall construction makes it the right choice for high-stress installations where durability and joint integrity are critical. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters commonly specify this grade of coupling in commercial and industrial environments. It is installed by threading onto male-threaded pipe ends using standard pipe wrenches and appropriate thread sealant or tape.
This coupling is suited for use in commercial plumbing, mechanical rooms, fire protection rough-in, and industrial process piping where extra heavy fittings are called out by specification or code. The black finish is standard for gas and industrial piping applications. The 2.5-inch size fits into mid-range pipe runs where standard-weight malleable iron couplings are undersized for the application or where the engineer of record has specified XH fittings throughout the system.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-install extra heavy malleable iron coupling for 2.5-inch threaded pipe systems in commercial and industrial plumbing and mechanical applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC) where adopted. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing any existing fittings or making new connections. Apply thread sealant compound or PTFE tape to male threads before hand-tightening, then torque with pipe wrenches to achieve a leak-free joint without over-stressing the fitting. Inspect the completed joint for leaks during system pressure testing before returning the system to service.
