The BMI USA 11220 is a short-length galvanized steel pipe nipple with male NPT threads at both ends, designed for connecting two female-threaded fittings in piping systems. This nipple measures 0.25 inches in nominal pipe size and 2 inches in overall length, with the length measurement including the threaded ends. Manufactured to Schedule 40 ERW (electric resistance welded) standards and finished with a hot-dip galvanized coating, it is suited for use in water, air, and steam distribution lines. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install nipples like this as joining pieces between valves, fittings, and other threaded components.
This nipple is appropriate for residential and light commercial piping applications where threaded galvanized steel is specified. Common uses include water supply lines, compressed air headers, fire protection systems, and steam service piping. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance in wet and humid environments. The 2-inch overall length makes it suitable for close-clearance installations where a longer nipple or union is not practical.
Designed as a standard NPT-threaded galvanized pipe nipple for use with 0.25-inch female-threaded pipe fittings, valves, and couplings in Schedule 40 galvanized steel piping systems.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off water, air, or steam supply and relieve system pressure before making any threaded connections. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly to ensure a leak-free joint. Follow applicable codes including IPC and IFGC for piping system requirements in your jurisdiction.
