The BMI USA 10012 is a black steel pipe nipple designed for use in threaded pipe systems across plumbing, gas, and mechanical installations. At 2.5 inches in diameter and 10 inches in length, this nipple serves as a short connector between fittings, valves, and other threaded components. The black finish is standard for gas supply lines and non-potable water systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of nipple in both new construction and retrofit applications where a short threaded run is needed between two female-threaded endpoints.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial gas piping, steam systems, and general industrial pipe runs where black steel is the specified material. It is commonly found in natural gas and propane distribution lines, boiler piping, and compressed air systems. The 2.5-inch diameter makes it appropriate for higher-flow or larger-diameter runs where smaller nipples would create unnecessary restrictions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard component for threaded black steel pipe systems using 2.5-inch nominal NPT connections in plumbing, gas, and mechanical piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, including IFGC requirements for gas piping systems. Shut off gas or water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded pipe components. Apply appropriate pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service to all male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as this can damage fittings or crack cast components downstream.
