The BMI 4850 is a lead-free brass nipple designed for use in potable water, plumbing, and fluid distribution systems. This close-tolerance threaded fitting connects pipe sections or transitions between threaded fittings and valves. At 1.5 inches in diameter and 5 inches in length, it fits standard NPT threaded applications and meets lead-free requirements for drinking water compliance. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in both new construction and repair work across residential and light commercial projects.
This nipple is suited for potable water supply lines, hydronic heating systems, irrigation manifolds, and general plumbing rough-in where a short-run threaded connector is required. Its lead-free brass construction makes it appropriate for installations governed by lead-free mandates under the Safe Drinking Water Act, including any fixture or distribution line that conveys water intended for human consumption.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-stock fitting compatible with 1.5-inch NPT threaded piping systems in residential and commercial plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque from pipe wrenches.
