The BMI 47140 is a wrot copper reducing bushing designed to connect a 2-inch fitting-end (FTG) outlet to a 1-1/2-inch press-fit (PRF) inlet. Wrot copper construction means the fitting is wrought from solid copper stock, giving it consistent wall thickness and reliable pressure ratings suited to potable water, hydronic heating, and general plumbing systems. This bushing is a standard component used by licensed plumbers to reduce pipe size within a run without adding unnecessary fittings. It seats into a standard copper fitting socket on the larger end and accepts a press-fit or sweat connection on the smaller end.
This bushing is used in residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a 2-inch line must transition down to a 1-1/2-inch line. Typical applications include supply piping, drain-adjacent copper runs, and hydronic distribution systems. It is installed directly into the socket of an existing 2-inch copper fitting, making it a compact solution for in-line reductions without the need for additional couplings or adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 2-inch to 1-1/2-inch copper reducing applications in residential and commercial plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before beginning work. The FTG end seats into the socket of an existing 2-inch copper fitting and should be soldered or pressed according to the connection method used. Do not over-heat the joint during soldering, as excessive heat can damage the fitting or nearby components.
