The BMI 46474 is a press-fit carbon steel tee designed for gas piping systems. It connects two run ports at 1-1/2 inches and one branch port at 1/2 inch, all joined without threading or welding using a press tool. Carbon steel construction meets the demands of natural gas and propane distribution in commercial and residential applications. Licensed plumbers and gas fitters install this fitting as part of press-fit gas piping assemblies, eliminating open-flame joining methods and reducing installation time on active job sites.
This tee is suited for gas distribution piping in residential and light commercial construction where press-fit carbon steel systems are specified. It fits inline runs requiring a reduced-size branch takeoff, such as feeding a single appliance from a main gas header. The 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 1/2 inch configuration is a common size in multi-appliance gas systems where a full-size run must continue while a smaller branch is tapped off.
Designed as an OEM-style press-fit replacement or new-installation fitting for carbon press gas piping systems sized at 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 1/2 inches.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off and verify zero gas pressure in the line before cutting or fitting. A manufacturer-approved press tool with the correct jaw size must be used on each port to achieve a certified gas-tight connection. Inspect each pressed connection visually and leak-test with an approved gas leak detection solution before restoring service.
