The BMI 46007 is a 1-1/4 inch press-fit coupling designed for carbon steel gas piping systems. It connects two sections of pipe using a press-fit method, eliminating the need for threading, soldering, or open flame on the joint. The coupling is constructed from carbon steel and is sized for 1-1/4 inch pipe. It is intended for installation by licensed plumbers and gas fitters working on residential or commercial gas distribution piping. At 0.324 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight fitting suited for tight mechanical room installations and retrofit work alike.
This coupling is used in gas piping applications where press-fit carbon steel fittings are specified. It is appropriate for new construction and retrofit installations involving natural gas or similar fuel gas distribution lines at standard residential and light commercial pressures. The press-fit design allows faster installation compared to threaded or welded connections, making it a practical choice for service technicians and plumbers working in occupied structures where open flame is restricted.
Designed as an OEM-style press-fit replacement coupling for 1-1/4 inch carbon steel gas piping systems using press-fit joining technology.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). The gas supply must be shut off and the line depressurized before fitting installation. A listed press-fit tool approved for use with carbon steel gas fittings is required to properly seat the fitting — hand-pressing is not sufficient. Inspect the pipe ends for burrs, debris, and correct pipe preparation before pressing.
