The BMI 4425 is a lead-free brass nipple designed for use in potable water and general plumbing piping systems. This close-coupled pipe fitting connects two threaded fittings, valves, or fixtures with a short, rigid extension. At 1/2 inch nominal pipe size and 2-1/2 inches in length, it is sized for common residential and light commercial supply lines. The lead-free brass construction meets drinking water compliance requirements applicable in jurisdictions that enforce low-lead standards for wetted components. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This nipple is suited for potable water supply lines, hot and cold distribution piping, hydronic heating systems, and general fluid handling applications where a short threaded extension is needed between two female-threaded connections. Its compact length makes it appropriate for tight spaces where a close nipple would be too short but a longer run of pipe is unnecessary. It is commonly installed in residential and light commercial plumbing systems during new construction, remodel, and repair work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard fitting for 1/2 inch NPT threaded plumbing connections in residential and light commercial water distribution piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code or applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or paste rated for the service fluid to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten brass fittings, as excessive torque can crack the fitting body or damage female-threaded ports.
